Uncut raves about Lilium!
"Brilliant third album by Mojave desert dweller.
When not playing bass with David Eugene Edwards' various bands (Wovenhand, 16 Horsepower), Pascal Humbert returns to his Mojave desert home and writes hallucinatory, sand-blasted music so downbeat it makes Calexico sound like a Vaudeville band. Its creator being neither a lyricist nor a singer, Felt relies upon Hugo Race and female singer Kal Cahoone to provide suitable brooding words and vocals to Humbert's dusky, slow-moving and oddly menacing soundscapes, populated by drifting trumpet snatches, weeping dobros and pedal steels, throbbing double bass and subtle electronic washes. The effect is as endlessly mesmerizing as the desert landscape that inspired it." (Uncut ****)
